I just received some VERY exciting news! I got offered a job working in the Louise Kennedy store in Kildare Village and im delighted! Louise Kennedy is one of Ireland's most successful fashion designers. She holds an international reputation for creating clothes that are appreciated for their sophistication and quality of design.
Since establishing her eponymous label in 1983, Louise has become synonymous with elegance and luxury in the fashion and design industry. Each season her collections reflect the highest standards of workmanship and fabrication that instantly appeal to those who value understated luxury and contemporary glamour. View her latest Autumn|Winter 2012 collection found at www.louisekennedy.com.
Her very first collection was bought by Ireland's flagship luxury department store, Brown Thomas, who continue to stock the brand 29 years later. Mrs. Mary Robinson - the first Irish female President - commissioned Louise to design her inauguration outfit in 1990. She continued to dress President Robinson and President Mary McAleese throughout their Presidencies.
In the mid 90's, Louise joined the British Fashion Council where she showed biannually during fashion week.
In 1997 Louise was chosen to design the uniforms for Aer Lingus, Ireland's national airline, which to this date are still worn by their male and female staff.
In 1999, Louise was commissioned to design a contemporary crystal collection in collaboration with Tipperary Crystal. Her collection has become the fastest growing brand of designed crystal in the Irish marketplace with an ever-increasing following in the UK and US markets. The Irish government has chosen to gift many pieces of Louise's crystal to both The White House, Downing Street and to other heads of state.
Louise has been the recipient of many prestigious awards including Irish Designer of the Year on four separate occasions. In 2004 she was awarded the Veuve Cliquot Business woman of the Year award. In 2009, Louise became the first female style envoy for Mercedes Benz.
It is at No 56 Merrion Square that the full Louise Kennedy collection can be visited. This five-story 18th century Georgian Dublin building expertly showcases Louise's full collections. Across the water in London, Louise's flagship store is located at No 9 West Halkin Street, Belgravia.
In 2011, Louise launched the Louise Kennedy Bridal Collection, which is exclusively stocked at her Merrion Square HQ. Louise also launched a new fine bone China table top collection and The Orianna Collection for Tipperary Crystal which uses platinum and hand-painted details - a first for any collection within the Tipperary Crystal range.
The roll-call of Louise's supporters is very impressive. Louise has dressed members of the British, European and Middle Eastern Royal Families. Other supporters over the years include Meryl Streep, Angelica Huston, Andie McDowell, Beyonce, Kylie Minogue, Jo Malone, Emma Thompson, Yasmin Le Bon and the late Elizabeth Taylor.
Even though Louise's clothes are directed at the older generation and would not necessarily be my style I can respect the quality of the clothes, the craftsmanship and classical elegance of her collections. I very much look forward to starting work! Fingers crossed il get on well :)
